The installation of a solar power system marks a significant milestone in DELCO Farm’s journey to develop a sustainable agricultural model—energy-autonomous and environmentally friendly.
Solar power system at DELCO Farm
Recently, DELCO has invested in a solar power system at DELCO Farm to directly support daily operations, production activities, and the functioning of automated machinery across the entire farm. The solar panel array is installed on the roof of the Smart Poultry Farm No. 1, with a total system capacity of 135.52 kWp, comprising 224 panels, each with a capacity of 605 Wp. The system is equipped with inverters totaling 110 kW, ensuring stable conversion efficiency and flexible adaptation to actual operational demands.
An smart monitoring software is integrated into the system, allowing real-time tracking of energy production, the status of each inverter string, and immediate alerts in case of technical faults—enabling the operations team to easily manage and optimize energy efficiency.
Economic and environmental benefits of solar power
According to calculations, the solar power system at DELCO Farm can supply around two-thirds of the farm’s total electricity demand. While this ratio may vary by season and solar radiation levels, it significantly reduces dependence on the national power grid. Utilizing this renewable energy source delivers clear economic benefits, with estimated annual savings of over VND 350 million compared to relying solely on grid electricity. It also supports stable operations and reduces the risk of production disruptions.
Beyond economic gains, the installation of the solar system brings lasting sustainable value. With an average annual output of over 145,800 kWh, the system helps reduce approximately 57 tons of CO₂ emissions each year—based on the average emission factor of 392g CO₂/kWh from the UK’s National Grid PLC.
Additionally, the system enhances energy autonomy, mitigates production disruption risks, reduces generator load during power outages, and ensures operational stability for the poultry farming and microbial production areas. This adoption of renewable energy also reflects DELCO’s commitment to building a modern agricultural model aligned with environmental protection and sustainable developme.
