On April 22, 2024, the Vice President of NVIDIA Corporation continued to visit Vietnam to survey investment and factory construction locations in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.
On April 22, 2024, Mr. Keith Strier – Vice President of NVIDIA Corporation had a meeting and discussion with Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung about the investment plan in the semiconductor industry in Vietnam. Previously, NVIDIA President Jensen Huang also visited Vietnam in December 2023 and expressed his desire to “turn Vietnam into a major AI innovation and production center of NVIDIA”.
At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung shared information about the strategy for developing the semiconductor and AI industry in Vietnam and the project for human resource development of this industry. After the meeting, NVIDIA’s delegation visited the facility of the National Innovation Center in Hoa Lac – Hanoi Hi-Tech Park (NIC Hoa Lac).
Next, on the morning of April 23, 2024, NVIDIA Corporation and FPT officially signed an agreement of comprehensive strategic cooperation. According to the agreement, FPT is expected to invest 200 million USD to build AI Factory. The factory has supercomputer systems operating on NVIDIA’s latest technology, including the NVIDIA AI Enterprise application suite – development technology framework and H100 Tensor Core GPU graphics chip.
According to many sources, in addition to signing a cooperation agreement with FPT, the main purpose of NVIDIA Corporation’s visit to Vietnam is to survey hi-tech investment locations and build factories in one of three locations including Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. It is known that NVIDIA’s delegation will work in Vietnam from April 22 – April 26. Particularly in Ho Chi Minh City, on April 25 and 26, NVIDIA will have 4 working meetings with the Management Board of HCMC Hi-Tech Park, CMC Technology Group HCMC National University and meet with the Chairman of the City People’s Committee to discuss investment plans in the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.
